Lensless Photo
In honor of Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day I decided to create a pinhole 'lens' for my Canon 20D, following instructions on the Czech website: http://www.pinhole.cz/en/. Here's my first result.I made the pinhole from an aluminum soda can, which I cut up. I made a hole with a fine needle. I taped the aluminum patch to the outside of the body cap, into which I had previously drilled a small hole.
With my camera on a tripod, a cable release, and exposure mode set at manual, I took shots at ISO 400 and various shutter speeds - from 1/10 sec to 1/30 sec outside. No viewfinder, no focus. I gauged exposure after the fact by checking the histogram.
Most of the images were blurry, like the one above. I think I need to get a smaller pinhole in order to improve sharpness. Will try some of the commercial pinhole sites.
It is fun discovering that you can take a photo without a lens. Stay tuned.
Suggestions are welcome.

I like the composition, Laurie and don't mind that it's blurred. I know that you could've taken a sharp pic just by using a lens.
I think digital leads to two directions:
1. democratization of photography, in that it allows entry to vast numbers of people previously put off by the technical challenges, and
2. experimentation on a scale not imagined previously.
The second one is the area I am personally attracted to, and your image illustrates the point. Many people who would not have otherwise done IR or pinhole can or have done it. This is great!
Another subset of #2 above is the renewed interset in archaic and/or alternative processes.
Let me know what pinhole do you end up using.

I like it. I do not think is too much blurred, actually I think it is pretty sharp compared with other pinhole photos I have seen. I plan to try it too.
